What did we discuss: We went over definitions and other important foundational information we would need for this class. But the thing we discussed in detail and stuck out to me the most was the Antoine Dodson video. What did I think: I had never thought very far past the idiocy and silliness of the particular video. My thoughts had fallen mostly in the idea that he most likely was aware of the cameras and was playing it up to "go viral". I never looked into why he was making the statements and I didn't know his sister had actually been attacked. I never even bothered to watch the actual video. I also was unaware that the victim was interviewed and my guess is that I probably wouldn't have even seen what was wrong with it just a few years ago. Now I know what is appropriate, pertaining to story telling in news, and I now see just how inappropriate this actually is.
