Violence against women

This week we discussed violence against women in music videos and then we watch Leslie Morgan Steiner's TED TALK on "Why Domestic Violence Victims Don't Leave".
Eminem Featuring Rhianna in "Love The Way You Lie"...Whoa. I had never fully watched this video, I had heard the song, even sang along as it is catchy. But wow, way to romanticize two people who have anger issues and beat one another. The house literally goes up in flames by the end of the video, why is this romantic? I tend to pay attention to cuss words in songs and blatantly racist thoughts or words, after seeing the video for this, maybe I should listen a little more intently from now on.
Leslie Morgan Steiner's " Why Domestic Violence Victims Don't Leave"...I am sad to admit, I did not understand the process these guys put their partner through. I have even voiced previously how I do not understand why these women don't leave. I did not know about the grooming process, and I was unaware of the slow and tedious work these men put in just to have someone to abuse amazes me. And not in a good way. Its very scary and I now see how so many can fall into this category without realizing it and not even understand the severity of their situation.
Women must be treated better in music videos, on television and in movies. Otherwise, men will continue to think they can get away with this terrible behavior and women will continue to suffer. There must be more people who stand up and say no to big executives who want this type of violence for the sexiness of their movie and television projects and men must say no to abusing women!
We need to do better. We have to do better.
